Boston Police Go Undercover to Bust Frat Party
The Boston Police used an undercover police officer to conduct a sting at a Fraternity Party. According to the Boston Globe, the Boston Police recently had complaints of that the fraternity house. In the past the Boston Police had responded to that house several times with no success they sent an undercover into the house. The undercover police officer was invited into the house for a party. About 75-100 people were at the party ten were later arrested for underage drinking and disturbing the peace. The students were arraigned in the Brighton District Court.
I find it amazing that the Boston Police went so far as to send an undercover police officer to a fraternity party. To me it seems like a lot of work to arrest ten Boston University students for underage drinking. If the police want to stop what was going on in the house they could have charged the residents of the house with Keeping a Disorderly House, a criminal charge.
I expect that when the arrested partygoers face the Judge in the Brighton District Court they will be able to resolve their cases on either court costs, or community service. Yet the penalties Boston students face by the university could be harsh, including probation and possible expulsion.
