Grandmother Charged With OUI
According to the Boston Herald a 63 year old grandmother was charged with her third offense OUI in Marblehead on Friday. Sharon A. Faulkner was allegedly drunk when she got into an accident while she was driving her 9 year old grandson to school. According to the Herald, Marblehead police responded to the report on an car striking an tree. When they arrived they could not find anyone at the scene. Later, school officials reported that Faulkner was involved in the accident. Faulkner failed a series of field sobriety test and blew a .14 on the breathalyzer. This was her third offense for OUI.
The Herald did not report that Ms. Faulkner was charged with OUI Child Endangerment. That is another serious charge that carries with a mandatory one year license loss and a mandatory minimum jail sentence. If convicted of a third offense OUI the 63 year old grandmother would have to serve 150 days in jail. It is a mandatory sentence.
