State Police Sobriety Checkpoint Coming to Middlesex County
According to the Massachusetts State Police website a sobriety checkpoint, aka roadblock is scheduled for Middlesex County on Friday night July 18 into Saturday morning. In order for a roadblock to comply with Massachusetts law strict regulations must be followed including advertising the schedule checkpoint. In this case, this notice was posted on the state police website, and I did not see it in any other media form. Historically, the state police have conducted on Memorial drive in Cambridge,
Sobriety checkpoints are extremely controversial. Many argue that they are not effective in taking serious drunk drivers off the road.
